Parents, it is a proven fact that talking on your cell phone is more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol. Call me crazy, but if a parent is caught driving under the influence of alcohol with a child in the car, I'm sure they would be crucified by friends/family/law enforcement. So why, parents, is it ok to chat away on your phone like an ignorant moron with your son/daughter in the car?
This, in my opinion, is child negligence. It makes me sick that some parents think that taking a phone call to chat is more important than the safety of their children. I truly think this should be punishable by law. Some states already ban cell phones but will only give you a fine if caught. If you're talking on the phone with a kid in the car, you should be punished. If you're texting with a kid in the car, you should be thrown in jail.
I know it's extreme but look at what you're doing. You are deciding to put your child at risk so that you can do something that could easily wait until your next stop. Your pleasure before your child's safety...doesn't sound right does it?
